LSU Hispanic Law Students Association Wins Diversity Award

The LSU Hispanic Law Students Association (HLSA) has been named the 2016-17 recipient of the Guardian of Diversity Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA). This award recognizes non-profits, student organizations, and bar committees for implementing and advancing diversity in the Louisiana legal community. HLSA will be honored with the award at the LSBA annual meeting in Destin, Fla., on June 8.

HLSA’s Board this past year worked with the Center for Civil Law Studies and with the LLM students by planning numerous events, serving as liaisons, and by volunteering in the community. HLSA was established in the fall semester of 2015 by a group of students who saw a need in the Law Center for an organization where like-minded people could come together and help the community and the legal profession.
