3L Abroad: Internship and Semester in Vienna

Michael Harpen, a 3L at the LSU Law Center, rather than graduating in May 2012, went to Vienna, Austria to intern at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He then studied at the University of Vienna in the fall 2012, and his course credits are presently being transferred to LSU Law. Though our Law Center has no ongoing exchange program with the University of Vienna, Michael was permitted to register as a free mover, at minimal cost, and transfer credits.

In his most recent email, he writes: “I’m enjoying the city, and I’ve been networking very hard in the diplomatic and United Nations community.  For example, I had the opportunity to interview Janice Dunn Lee, the Deputy Director General (and the highest ranking American diplomat) at the International Atomic Energy Agency.  She’s a real fascinating lady.  Here’s the link to the article I wrote: http://civilianglobal.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/january-2013-editedfinal9.pdf.”
