The LSU Law Center supplies a copy of the current U.S. State Department Consular Information Sheet to every applicant, and provides a link to this information on its website. If there is any revision of the Consular Information Sheet, it will be provided to all registrants through email and on the website. If a U.S. State Department Travel Warning or Alert is issued for France prior to commencement of the program or during the course of the program, all registrants will be notified promptly and given an opportunity to withdraw from the program. The students will be refunded fees paid except for room and board payments used prior to the State Department’s Declaration. Refunds will be issued within 20 days of withdrawal and paid according to the Refund Schedule posted to the website.
UPDATE (May 12, 2017)
The U.S. Department of State issued a travel alert for its citizens going to Europe until September 1, 2017.
A travel alert is intended to inform travelers rather than discourage travel. This particular travel alert advises U.S. citizens to:
- Monitor media and local information sources and factor updated information into travel plans and activities.
- Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security messages and make it easier to locate you in an emergency.
- Be prepared for additional security screening and unexpected disruptions.
- Stay in touch with your family members and ensure they know how to reach you in the event of an emergency.
- Have an emergency plan of action ready.
- Follow the instructions of local authorities.
If you are traveling between countries in Europe, please check the website of the U.S. embassy or consulate in your destination city for any recent security messages. Review security information from local officials, who are responsible for the safety and security of all visitors to their host country.
