The Externship Program welcomes inquiries from organizations interested in taking students as externs. The LSU Law Center currently places students as externs in government and not-for-profit agencies and judicial chambers. Students must work for no compensation of any kind, and must be assigned work that is primarily legal in nature.
LSU places students with placement organizations part-time during the Fall and Spring semesters and full-time during the summer session. Students commit to working a minimum of 150 hours at their placement, and take a concurrent course (either online or in person) that focuses on skills development customized for their placement experience.
Organizations interested in hosting LSU Law Center students as externs should contact Prof. Jeffrey Brooks, Director of Advocacy and Externship Programs.
